Job Description:

Your role will include, but is not limited to, collaborating with the Art Director and technical artists in the design and development and implementation of the game's character and environment animation style. You will also be responsible for the animation of the primary characters in the game, and for mentoring the junior animator(s). You will be responsible for ensuring that any animations you create follow the overall animation style once it is finalized, and you will ensure that the animations are of exceptional visual quality and meet all technical requirements. You will work in collaboration with the rest of the game team to create the highest quality game animations possible within the time constraints, and be a positive contributor and leader in group discussions and team goals.

Responsibilities:

•    Work with the Art Director to develop animation style and overall motion plan for game
•    Assist in development of animation pipeline and tools
•    Animate key character animations
•    Help identify tasks and needs for animation team 
•    Report animation progress to the Art Director and team

Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Assets:

•    Experienced Animator with minimum of 3 years of experience and 2 shipped game titles
•    Expertise in Maya or Max, with extensive understanding of 3d character animation tools and development
•    Experience with MotionBuilder
•    Expertise with core principles of animation, including timing, follow through, motion arcs, stretch and squash, forward/inverse kinematics, anticipation, etc.
•    Ability to convey distinct emotions, intentions and state of mind of characters through body language and limited facial animation
•    Expertise at hand keyed animation
•    Experience with humanoid and non-humanoid characters
•    Demonstration of animation skills in portfolio (online preferred)
•    Experience working directly with design and engineering teams to create game animation systems and animations that convey the design and work within the technical constraints
•    Interest in educational and family entertainment genre
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to verbalize artistic vision
•    Self-directed and highly motivated
•    Strong interest in working in a highly collaborative team environment

An exceptional candidate will also have these qualities:

•    Extensive experience using Unity, UE3 or Crytek game engine and tools
•    Multi-platform development experience (PC, console, iOS, Android)
•    Traditional (2d) animation or game art educational background
•    Work experience or education in children's media or art education fields
