Position Overview
As a thought-leader, the User Experience/Interface Designer guides cross-functional teams through user-centered design (UCD) activities, blending business and user goals to create the ideal online experience for our clients. The User Experience/Interface Designer greatly influences the direction of a wide variety of interactive project types; such as interactive storytelling, consumer product and ecommerce experiences, web applications, and information portals. The User Experience/Interface Designer should evangelize and promote UCD methodology and best practices, with the aim of evolving the User Experience practice.
Project Leadership & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team and client to understand and document project requirements while advocating for the user
- Establish project goals & success metrics to evaluate proposed solutions
- Collaborate with Business Analyst and Director of the Development Team to propose a UCD framework for the project, including scope of research activities, and timeframe within the overall project plan
- Conduct or lead contextual and usability research to gather user requirements, analyze/recommend experience design, and oversee execution of those requirements
- Analyze and translate study results and user needs into a User Experience strategy for the web channel
- Create and maintain all information architecture deliverables (may include: comparative and competitive research, content audit, persona creation/user and audience profiles, user scenarios, use cases, business process and task flow diagrams, information hierarchy and relationships/sitemap, classification schemes, detailed wireframes and interaction flows, UI specifications, copy direction, prototyping mockups)
- Validate designs through usability studies and direct interaction with users
- Lead client meetings to present and review proposed UI strategy and definition documents
- Present decisions and alternate solutions based on human factors and user research, web analytics, and industry best practices
- Evangelize and promote UCD standards (i.e. 508 Compliance) and best practices internally and externally via shared online resources, portfolio case studies, workshops, and UX community involvement
- Serve as a User Experience consulting resource within the company
- Analyze any changes made within UI to make sure that they are cross-browser compliant
