Job Description:

Job Title: User Experience Architect

At Vanguard Direct, we create award-winning digital solutions for top-tier clients including Verizon Wireless, Samsung, Scholastic, Macy’s, ERB, MCU, and various agencies within NYC.gov. Within our company culture you will enjoy close-knit relationships, creative collaboration, and the opportunity to make a real difference as we help our clients transition to digital solutions.

The User Experience Architect is responsible for developing highly innovative design solutions and compelling brand and customer experiences. This is a unique opportunity to deliver what clients crave: creativity, technology, and strategy from experts who care about their business.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about the art and craft of UX across digital platforms. You aspire to build solutions that are simple, elegant, beautiful, and exactly aligned to customer needs. You love to learn and work with leading-edge technologies and practice sound digital strategy when contributing to projects. You thrive in entrepreneurial, creative, and innovative environments and enjoy taking initiative and ownership.

Responsibilities:

  • Create documents that describe the user experience including wireframes, site maps, functional specs, user flows, personas, use cases, etc.
  • Collaboratively work with core teams (creative directors, copywriters, developers, project managers, and account) to craft user experiences that satisfy the functional requirements.
  • Work on a range of projects including websites (desktop and mobile), mobile apps (all platforms), and interactive site tools.
  • Consult across brands, providing both UX and technical feedback.
  • Take initiative with prototyping ideas before execution.
  • Present work to clients and internal teams.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Collaborative team player who is flexible and open-minded, yet brings passionate new ideas to the table.
  • Portfolio that can demonstrate strategy, process, expertise, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of newest mobile and web technologies, capabilities, and trends.
  • Strong understanding of UI and usability principles, design best practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of related disciplines such as information architecture, interaction design and end user research. Ability to reorganize the information architecture of complex websites.
  • Proficiency with wireframing tools like OmniGraffle, Balsamiq, Visio, or similar plus Adobe Creative Suite.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience working as a UX Architect or Information Architect (or closely related field) in the creation of websites, web applications, desktop, and/or mobile applications.
  • BA degree in Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, User Interface Design, Human Factors, Technical Communication or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Portfolio:

All applicants must include samples of both web and mobile work including wireframes, sitemaps, and prototypes. Note that this is not a UI/design position, although you are welcome to share final creative designs if they accompany your wireframes.
